Stress &
Anxiety

Biologically, we are designed for survival and protection. One way our bodies help us do this is by signaling our needs, so we can respond and ensure they are met.

Socially, however, women have often been taught that putting the needs of others before their own is the right thing to do. This creates a conflict between what our bodies need and the expectations placed on us, leading to, at the very least, stress.

In today's world women are often set up for failure. Biologically, we are wired to protect our loved ones AND ensure our own needs are met.  Socially, we've been taught to ignore those needs - to believe that sacrifice is what adds to a "good mom". This contradiction creates constant tension, leaving many women feeling exhausted, guilty, and stretched too thin, questioning whose needs to tend to first- if at all.

Let's challenge some of the biggest myths:

Myth: Good moms like their kids all the time.

Reality: Do you like anyone all the time? Children have their own personalities, moods, and challenges - just like adults. You can deeply love your kids while also not enjoying every single moment.

Myth: Asking for help is a sign of weakness.

Reality: Seeking support is a sign of strength, self-awareness, and wisdom.  Letting others in - whether it's friends, family, or a professional - helps prevent burnout and resentment.

Myth: Putting your own needs before your family's is selfish.

Reality: You cannot pour from an empty cup.  Taking care of yourself isn't neglect- it's necessary. Unfortunately, parenting and self-care often feel at odds, but your well-being is essential to being the mom and partner you want to be.

We're surrounded by filtered images of motherhood- smiling babies, glowing moms, and magical moments filling our social feeds.  But real motherhood is messy, complicated, and oftentimes overwhelming.

Therapy offers a safe space to challenge unrealistic expectations, manage mom guilt, and reclaim your identity- without an apology!
